History of the Male Choir The male choir was organized on September 15, 1999. The meeting was called to order by Rev. Sylvester Williams leading the song Near the Cross. Rev. Sylvester Williams offered prayer. Rev. Sylvester Williams read the scripture from Psalm 66:1-9. Rev. Williams stated the purpose of the meeting which was to organize a male choir. With that in mind officers were elected by nomination. Those elected were: William Bryant president, Tony Redden vice president, Lonnie Holmes secretary, Cartier Whitlock assistant secretary, Edwin Daniels treasurer and Hosea Brinson chaplain. Paulette Blackwell was the pianist. Others present were: Robert Brown, Jr., Joe Frazier, Tavis Brinson, Jimmy Redden, Jr., Travis Hampton, Chris Hampton, Kenneth Graham, Paulette Blackwell, Gladys Johnson, Sandra Frazier and Deacon Ben Hayward, Deacon Jacob Isom, and Deacon Bennie Graham. Remarks were given by Rev. Sylvester Williams and each deacon present. The meeting was dismissed by Dea. Ben Hayward. Past members of the male choir were: Robert Brown, III, Jimmy Redden, Jr., William Lyons, Anthony Brown, and Akeem Knight. Our choir has had several pianists. They were Paulette Blackwell, Greg Gaines, Mathis Ross, and Justin Brown. Our drummer has been Christopher Whitlock. The present officers are William Bryant president, Tony Redden vice president, Thomas Harvey secretary, Edwin Daniels assistant secretary and Gary Jenkins treasurer. Gladys Johnson is the inspirational leader. Other members are Earnest Spence, Joe Frazier, Anthony Brown, Byron Jackson and Harry James Williams. Minister Michael Collins is the minister of music. Shedrick Bryant is the drummer. The Beulah Missionary Male Choir has helped the Male Usher Board every year with the Thanksgiving Dinner for those in need and the elderly. The Male Choir celebrates each others birthday by having dinner. The Male Choir has had a concert in 2010. The choir went to sing in Augusta in 2011. The Male Choir has also song at the nursing home in Camilla. We come this far by faith leaning on the Lord and we are going to continue to sing and praise His Holy name.
